About Me

As owner/therapist of Brick by Brick Mental Health Counseling,LLC I want to welcome you to our site. Please feel free to explore, comment, and ask questions.

I can hardly ask you to share yourself with me unless I have shared with you...

I attended Shawnee State University for four years, and it was there that I obtained my BA in Psychology. I was supported by many great professors and staff who gave me a foundation for professionalism and genuine care for my colleagues. I directly followed my undergrad with graduate school at Lindsey Wilson College in the School of Professional Counseling. This is where I obtained my M.Ed., mastered my skills, and learned how to be a Professional Counselor. I graduated LWC in December, 2008.

I started my career as a Mental Health Counselor in May, 2009. Since then, I have found joy in a private practice setting; in Community Mental Health working as an Outpatient/School- based Therapist; and in teaching Psychology at Shawnee State University. I am blessed to be a mother of three wonderful children; wife of a kind, gentle husband; and "pet mom" to our dogs and cats. My spirituality gives me strength and guides me. God also gave me a dear friend to help navigate my path as well. Let me share this quote she gave to me while I was in college. It resonates with me to this day. I hope this quote awakens the next journey God has for you as it did for me...

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~ Marianne Williamson (American Author and Lecturer)

I pray with you now that God leads you to your tranquil place. If I can be of any assistance please feel free to use the form below to contact me.

Sending many blessings your way,

Mary Hardy-Garcia, M.Ed., LPCC
